Welcome aboard for the experience of a lifetime. Vagabond
Cruise is the largest operator of sightseeing, dinner, dolphin,
nature, and historical cruises on Hilton Head Island. We also
host over 100 private cruises and parties per year for corporate clients; as well as, weddings, birthdays, and special events. We operate from Harbour Town, the heart of Hilton Head Island.
We are the island's original passenger vessel operator, in
continuous business under the lighthouse since 1972. Since
1992, Vagabond Cruise has sponsored the most dynamic, fun,
and interesting internship on Hilton Head Island. Our program provides student interns with total immersion in the operation
of a fast paced, high volume, tourism oriented business. The program consists of three separate positions that are alternated during the week to keep things exciting.
The first position is in our corporate office. This is the first
point of contact many of our passengers will have with
Vagabond Cruise. It's up to you to ensure that that contact is a positive and exciting one. While you're in the office you'll take reservations, answer phones, organize and mail marketing materials, contact hotel staff, and answer questions. A day seems to go by in an hour, during an average week in August we answer 4,500 phone calls.
The second position is at our ticket desk on the pier in Harbour Town. Out here you're in the heart of Harbour Town, right on the waters of Calibogue Sound. This is where we ticket all the passengers for every cruise. We operate up to fourteen cruisesa day with daily cash transactions in excess of $16,000. It's a lot of responsibility and it can be pretty challenging, but the view is great and you can see dolphins from your seat.
The third position is aboard one of our passenger vessels. We
have two large motor vessels and an America's Cup sailing
yacht. This is where we execute our product. It all comes down to how well we operate the cruise. Aboard the boat you'll be part of the crew. We'll teach you how to assist in the operation of the boat, getting in and out of the harbour. You'll be responsible for running retail sales, assisting passengers, and answering questions. We want you to put your best foot and smile forward. You can help us maintain the level of quality that our passengers expect and deserve.
You will work five days a week, with two days off. We'll
schedule you in the office some, at the ticket desk, and on the boats. By the end of your stay here you will have seen how we operate a high volume, high quality business. We have a reputation for having the best boats in the best locations, staffed by the best crews supported by the best staff.
